Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests is home to over 3 million acres – from plateaus to peaks. These National Forests hosts a variety of wildlife including populations of over 55,000 elk, 150,000 mule deer, 500 Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep and 150 desert bighorn sheep, Canada lynx, black bear, pine marten, mountain lion, and many other small mammals.
