WOODCHUCK and Camp Kesem have partnered to empower college student leaders nationwide to create free, life-changing summer camps for children affected by a parent’s cancer. Their mission is simple: To recognize and embrace the often-overlooked population of children affected by a parent's cancer. This is accomplished by providing qualifying children with an environment where they are surrounded by other kids that know exactly what they're going through, as well as giving them a week away from their burdens at home- a chance to just be a kid again.
One of 54 chapters across the country, Camp Kesem Minnesota is entirely run by college students at the University of Minnesota that work all year to raise funds to run camp. Founded in the Fall of 2011, the third year of camp will be in the summer of 2014. Over the past two years, Camp Kesem Minnesota has served over 90 children. In our third year, we are looking to host 80 campers.
